Synopsis:
One of the best films of this or any other year. When Clayton, a handsome young drifter, becomes the gardener for an ill-tempered old man, he is surprised to learn that he is working for James Whale, the once-famous genius who created the Frankenstein films in the thirties. Whale is immediately taken with Clayton’s masculine good looks and tries to befriend him. The two of them begin an unlikely friendship.

Regent's "Gods and Monsters" was nominated for three Academy Awards and won the 1999 Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. Other awards include three Independent Spirit Awards, including Best Feature, Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress, Best Picture from the National Board of Review, three Golden Globe nominations, including the award for Best Supporting Actress among numerous other international prizes. The film is on more than 100 critics' "Top Ten" lists.
