Regent Entertainment Partnership LP was founded in 1995 by Paul Colichman, Mark Harris, Peter Dekom and Stephen P. Jarchow. Its general partner is Regent Entertainment Inc.
The company has offices in Los Angeles and Dallas. The company produces, acquires and distributes motion pictures and television series. While many independent film companies have shuttered or crashed and burned in spectacular fashion, Regent Entertainment has survived and prospered irrespective of the inevitable vagaries of the business.
Regent Entertainment began financing, producing and distributing motion pictures in 1996. In 2000 the company commenced theatrical releasing of motion pictures including ownership of theaters in Los Angles and Dallas. The company sold the theaters when the real estate became more valuable than the theaters.
The company has produced a large number of television movies for Lifetime, Sci-Fi, Fox, Disney and others. It has released over 50 titles theatrically. It has licensed film rights to virtually all parts of the world.
Regent Entertainment has utilized a variety of production financing techniques including bank loans, pre-sales and institutional equity. The company is familiar with virtually all of the international and state subsidies and rebates. It has executed financing strategies with insurance companies, financial institutions, hedge funds, investment banks and tax incentivized investors. Since 2012 Regent Entertainment has focused on re-acquiring its film rights and acquiring new rights in the form of individual titles and libraries. The company has re-acquired rights from Octagon Investment Management Ltd., Christopher GmbH, Merrill Lynch Mortgage Capital Inc. and many others.
Regent Entertainment is debt free and owns virtually all of its work over the last two decades. The company has adapted to changes in social media and technology, including streaming and over-the-top services.
